Introduction to Montessori :
Dr Maria Montessori, the first woman to qualify as a medical doctor in Italy , drew on her scientific training to develop the Montessori method and materials for education. She recognised the uniqueness of each child and strived to provide an environment in which all could develop at their own pace and take advantage of their instinctive desire to learn.
One hundred years on, the teaching methods are providing modern children with individual teaching to enable each child to reach their own potential. The method uses extensive observational based teaching, enabling a “tailored” approach that can meet the needs of each child at all times. As a result, the environment is stimulating and interactive, providing a solid basis for the child's future education.
